Selling Figures to Us
As well as offering high quality newly painted figures, we do buy and re-sell used figures.
Note - Wholesale vs. Retail - We always like to start the
purchase process with the following caveats, so you know our perspective from the beginning.
We are a wholesale purchaser, meaning that we will need to resell your figures across our
established customer base for a profit. By comparison, a retail purchaser is someone who
plans to personally utilize your figures in their own collection.
As a wholesale purchaser we can offer the following advantages - we can purchase large
quantities / entire collections, it is an easy sale for you the seller, and we're reliable
and pay promptly.
The downside of selling to a wholesaler like us is that we have to resell for profit, so we can't
offer you as much as you can probably get by selling the figures yourself, particularly at a
large show or to a local willing buyer. FYI - If you're willing to accept credit for GAJO
merchandise instead of cash, we can generally give a slightly better price, but still not as
well as you can probably do retail.
Our advice to prospective sellers is usually to determine if they want the hassle of doing a
retail sale themselves (flea market table, etc.). If not, we're happy to work up a price after
receiving a detailed list and sample(s) or pictures, and We'll try to make the transaction as
easy as possible.
GAJO Purchase Quotes - we are happy to provide prospective
sellers with a quote on their collections. If you'd like us to quote on your collection,
please send us a detailed list for each collection if you'd like us to quote. The information
provide should include the number of figures and manufacturer, description of the basing,
and an assessment of the painting quality. A digital photo, or samples are very helpful in
verifying painting quality, particularly for exceptionally well painted collections.
The quote we provide will be contingent on the figures matching the description on
arrival.
We will provide a quote in either cash, GAJO credit, or both - please let us know which
you prefer.
We will honor any quote provided for 90 days (assuming the figures eventually arrive in the
condition represented), to allow the seller some time to try to locate a retail purchaser.
Shipping Figures to Us - Here are our standard shipping
instructions:
For shipping the figures to me I recommend the following:
* get a very sturdy box or boxes
* set the figures inside the box, do not overpack
* fill the remaining space in the box with puffed rice (or similar cereal). Note that it is
important to use a cereal which doesn't contain sugar, as the sugar leaches onto the figures,
hurting the paint.
* tap the cereal down until it is quite well packed - you want no movement of the figures as
the box is handled in the post.
* seal the box firmly and completely with lots of shipping tape.
* please use our GAJO Used address shown above for your shipment.
* overall it pays to spend time and care packing your figures - the better you pack them, the
better likelihood of them arriving here safe and sound.
* ship to our address above (note that it is different from our newly painted figure address).
In the US we recommend using USPS Priority Mail, or similar premium
service from UPS/Fedex, as it minimizes the chances of really rough handling in transit. If
you use priority mail, the post office provides free shipping tape and labels (just ask them
or look in the shipping center).
* be aware that if you choose to add insurance or signed confirmation to your parcel it will
add roughly 3-4 days to the shipment time, as I have to go in person to the post office
and sign for your parcel as opposed to using our drop box.
* on receipt of your parcel, we will examine the figures [generally by the following weekend].
If everything is as represented we will dispatch your check the next business day.
